Ahead of the Buganda Masaza Cup grand finale, the Buweekula Ssaza team, led by Assistant Coach Devis “Nono” Ssozi and Team Chairperson Richard Kasumba, visited Mubende Regional Referral Hospital to donate relief items to mothers in the maternity ward and children in the pediatric unit.

The donations, including sugar, posho, soap, and pampers, aimed to support mothers during their hospital stay and inspire community goodwill ahead of the finals.

Speaking at the ward, Richard Kasumba said the gesture was intended both as charity and as a way to strengthen the bond between the team and its supporters.

“We decided to come to the hospital because many of the people here need hope. The items we have brought will help them reduce some of their expenses,” he said.

He added that the initiative could help instill a lifelong love for sports among children, drawing inspiration from European club cultures.

Faridah Uwamahoro Bigirimaana, one of the charity sponsors who donated 50 kilograms of sugar, said the visit was also meant to seek blessings for the team ahead of the Masaza Cup final.

“I believe that mothers and newborns will bless our team as it sets off tomorrow, October 30, to prepare for the final match,” she said, emphasizing support for mothers, particularly from rural areas.

Assistant Coach Devis “Nono” Ssozi explained that the initiative was the idea of Head Coach Felix Ssekabuuza and received full support from the technical team.

“I’m happy that we successfully carried out this charity activity,” he said, thanking all well-wishers who contributed.

Dorothy Ayiinza, the team mobiliser in charge of fans, expressed confidence ahead of the finals.

“Our team is making history in the Masaza Cup this year because everything seems to be on our side,” she said.
